Now, this is something to write home about.

With huge, monolithic, cavernous, titanic, gargantuan thanks to the libraries team at Sheffield City Council, and the School Library Association West of England branch and volunteer school librarians, I’ve been shortlisted for both the Sheffield Children’s Book Awards (Young Adult category) and the BTBA (Bristol Teen Book Awards), the second of which I found out about just this weekend, which made me very pleased indeed.

Sheffield Children’s Book Award celebrates books and their positive impact on the Sheffield Community. There are just three books in my age category, the other two being Josh Silver’s Trauma Land, who has just won the YA Book Prize (huge congratulations to Josh), and Benjamin Dean’s Bury Your Friends, both of which are top notch. Hundreds of readers are now voting for their faves through their schools and libraries, and the announcement is in November. I’m delighted to be in the running and will be heading to Sheffield for the ceremony. Obviously, my mantra is, it’s totally up to you and everything but VOTE JODIE JONES!

The Bristol Teen Book Awards highlight excellent teen literature with a strong emphasis on diversity, representation, and unique lived experiences. The lovely folk in Bristol narrowed down nominations from students and staff from across Bristol schools to create their shortlist of six. Bristol students are now reading the shortlist before voting and attending the award ceremony in early 2027. As I may have mentioned, it’s entirely and completely up to you but VOTE JODIE JONES!
